We've been busy at Civitas and I'd like to start the newsletter by thanking everyone who helped us move so seamlessly into our new unit. We could not have done it without you and we will be forever grateful.
We can't wait for the finishing touches to be complete but it already feels like home on Bowerhill. The atmosphere has been electric, the classes busy in a time of year where things usually fizzle out as the festivities begin next month. We take pride in keeping you accountable and creating an atmosphere where you want to be at the gym and you are excited about your training so long may it continue.
For those that have seen, we have filter coffee on reception if you needed your caffeine fix and the wifi is now installed in the gym. You're more than welcome to come in, use the wifi, work from the gym and grab a cheap coffee if you feel like it. The coffee's can be paid for on an honesty system. The ipad is on the desk, and all you need to do is click filter coffee, then pay by card and tap your phone on the pay machine. easy as that! Make sure you use the milk frother! its a game changer 🤣 . If the coffee proves popular we may upgrade the coffee machine to something more substantial but we will monitor its popularity for the minute.
As we approach Christmas we are excited to host our annual Winter Throwdown on Sunday 30th. We are currently at capacity however I will create a waiting list for people who still wanted to sign up (I've heard murmurs of people still wanting a spot) as if we get a few more we will be able to open up a new heat. We are especially excited to see you all test your precision and accuracy on the Erg Shoot event which won't only be a great workout but will also be a great laugh.

Last week I put a video up regarding a new offering in Small Group Personal Training which we are looking to implement in the New Year. The reality is that as everything increases in price, the coaches will need to raise their PT rates for new clients in line with the industry average. I don't need to explain for them BUT they all get their clients great results, they provide a great service and they should charge accordingly. On the other hand we understand that it then becomes more of a strain on the client. So we are looking to bridge the gap with SGPT. Ultimately, people get the best results via 1:1 training for obvious reasons. The session will cover nothing other than what the client wants to work on. So we are looking for our SGPT sessions or blocks to be really specific in certain areas of fitness. We found a lot of clients have goals to improve, for example, toes to bar specifically or getting hip contact in the snatch so these aren't going to be generic sessions. They are going to be specialised in areas that may (or may not) align with your specific goals. If they do align with yours, the sessions will be cheaper than 1:1 PT and very limited in terms of spots so grab them quickly when you see them posted. Our job is to get you results which yes, the classes will do but if you want those results a lot quicker, then these sessions are for you!
Talking of results and speeding them up! Nutrition. A goal of mine is to become not only a fitness facility but a health and wellness facility as well. A lot of us are guilty of getting the fitness part spot on, turning up for our hour in the gym and working our socks off in a metcon but we don't all have the knowledge of how to fuel and recover in the hours outside of the gym to ultimately help us reach our goals. With new beginnings brings new opportunities and Sheree and myself have been qualifying as Nutrition coaches behind the scenes and Nutrition coaching is something we will be offering at Civitas in the New Year. Nutrition is at the foundation of the health and fitness pyramid. It is so so important and after the festivities we will be running a 28 day Nutrition Kickstart/Challenge in January to 1. Get you back on track in the gym after the holidays and 2. to build habits lasting way beyond the 28 days and ensure that you are actually getting the most out of your training and helping you align the other 23 hours of your day with your health and fitness goals. More information coming on this soon but as with SGPT, the spaces will be limited to ensure those that are serious and committed will get the best results possible.
Most importantly though! The Christmas Party, Saturday 13th December at Melksham Town Football Club. Come along, let your hair down and celebrate a great year with the Civi's. Im excited about this year (as we won't have to clean up in the morning) and it would be great to see as many of you as possible there to showcase what our community is all about. YES there will be an awards ceremony where we can celebrate individual achievements and round off the year in style!
Our Christmas opening hours will be released soon. We were open a lot last year and we'll be open a lot this year to ensure you all have ample opportunity to keep your fitness up around Christmas. We'll put on as many classes as possible and there will also be increased open gym. On the flip side, if there are certain days with classes that don't suit your schedule, please respect that I want the coaches to have a break as well and spend some quality time with their loved ones. They've worked their socks off all year and they, like you all, deserve to put their feet up and relax before a busy January in the gym.
October Committed club numbers are below 👇 . Remember in the new year, platinum members will be thrown into the hat to win prizes each month!!!
