May already!
April was a busy month and May is looking the same. Ellie and Jake celebrated their wedding last weekend on what was a perfect day. We all hope you had an amazing honeymoon together.
May sees the wedding of Charlie and Fran. We'd like to wish you both good luck for the wedding day itself and a life time of happiness ahead 🙌 .
Every month we're shouting out those competing. I'd like to just make a special mention to those who ran marathons last month. Cassie and Mike the London marathon and Ben the Manchester marathon. I can't even comprehend the countless hours you would of had to put in training and fundraising for great causes. You should be very proud of yourselves.

On the subject of fundraising. Thank you to all of you who donated to the national autistic society last month to celebrate 12 years of Civitas. We had over 60 of you in that morning taking part in 'Km Clovis'. A very different workout to what we're used to. We thoroughly enjoyed the morning and hope you all did too.
We had Civitas teams on the podium over at Devizes last month, Bristol Fitness Games and more comps are coming thick and fast again this month and we hope to see more of the same. From our point of view as coaches it's our favourite thing to see you guys testing your fitness. Hyrox's, 10km's, half marathons, local comps and even online qualifiers are happening and its impossible to keep up and wish you all luck individually. So if you're competing this month! GOOD LUCK!
In-affiliate online semi finals happened this past weekend. Ben and Charlie qualified for these via the open. The workouts they got through this weekend were CrossFit Games level workouts and to be honest the boys lapped them up! Although our bread and butter at Civitas is helping everyday people get fitter and stronger around their busy lifestyle, it's inspiring to see that level of athlete perform that level of workout within our walls. Well done chaps 👏 .

'MURPH PREP'. Every May is Murph month. On the 26th May we'll take on memorial day Murph. It's a huge CrossFit tradition and one that we do every year. For Time: 1mile run, 100 pull ups, 200 push ups, 300 squats, 1mile run (whilst wearing a weighted vest if you're brave enough). This is one of the longer and more challenging Hero workouts so we are prepping in the weeks approaching the 26th purely to get you used to the volume of bodyweight movements so that you aren't sore for days after Murph. We want as many of you as possible to attend Murph on what is always a great community day. It will run similar to 'km clovis' in that we will go off in waves to ensure we all have space on the rig and we will also have scaling options from half murph to partitioned murph to team murph to cater for everyone.
As we move through May and into June keep your eyes peeled for Summer merch drops, Oly lifting camp dates as well as dates for our summer throwdown!
