It's April, the weather is glorious (for now) and it's feeling almost like summer at Civitas! We've been busy throughout March and April is no different. Well done to everybody who represented Civitas in competiton last month and a huge good luck to those competing this month.
We've got Ed, Phil, Harvs, Ben and Laura at Bristol Fitness Games. Sarah running the Berlin half marathon. Multiple teams competing at CrossFit Devizes and runners running the Corsham 10km at the end of the month. Every newsletter we have more and more people doing comps and testing their fitness each month. We love to see it!
Outside of fitness, a HUGE congratulations to Ellie and Jake who tied the knot last month. We all wish you a happy and healthy life together
This month marks Civitas' anniversary as a CrossFit affiliate. As you will have seen in the

members page we are planning a very tough workout and trying to raise money for the national autistic society to celebrate 12 years as CrossFit Civitas. The workout will be 'Kilometre Clovis': For Time, 10km run, 150 burpee pull ups. We are planning this on the morning of April 21st. We will aim to get started early and finished early so that you guys can go and enjoy your Easter Monday.
As stated in the post, this workout is tough so there will be various scaling options to make this accessible for everyone! Participation is a minimum £5 donation. If you cannot participate or are away please donate anything you can. All donations go towards helping autistic individuals and their families gain vital guidance and support. It's autism awareness month, its close to our hearts and all donations will be greatly appreciated.

Morning classes and cancellations (👀 ). As the weather gets better the surge for early morning training starts to hot up. We are doing our best to let as many people onto these classes as possible. I know sometimes it is completely unavoidable but please, if you need to cancel, do it with plenty of time for those on the waitlist to make the class. If, on the morning of the class you cannot make it, please let us know via your wix app. Don't just not turn up. Early birds are up and a message an hour before the class starts can be the difference between someone on the waitlist training or not training that day. If you're on the waitlist, check your apps before you go to bed and when you wake up, as we may have added you to the class 🙌 .
RUNNERS 🏃♂️ : The Civitas Social Run is still ongoing since the open. Rather than being an official class this is a more casual Saturday morning fun run. If this is something you want to be part of every now and then, there is a whatsapp group that you can be added to where the run that week is planned and discussed and if you want to join that week, you can. Just give us a shout and we'll get you added to the group.

You'll have noticed recently in the programming that we have been testing some maxes and workouts will start to get longer and more aerobic. We use the summer months to build some strength and improve that aerobic base so expect to see more % work to build that strength and some sweaty metcons to get those lungs going over the next few months. If you haven't already, make sure to make the most of your Sugarwod apps to log your maxes to make your % work easier to work out and log those workout scores as well as we'll be repeating some to see if that fitness improves.

CIVITAS COMMITTED CLUB - March has been great as we had almost 60 of you make the committed club whether that be platinum or gold. Keep up the good work. The more consistent you remain the better results you will get. You'll look back and realise how far you've come and how much fitter you have become for it.
MEMBER OF THE MONTH
JACOB EMERY

Congratulations Jacob!
Jake is the epitome of Civitas. Not only is he incredibly consistent and hard working in his training he is more importantly a true gent who makes time for every single member, no matter what class he is in. From the morning crew to the cardio clubs and his Friday lunchtime workouts, Jake arrives with a smile on his face which rubs off on those around him.
Since joining Civitas he has made huge progress in both his strength and his fitness and these improvements will no doubt continue. Keep up the good work! 👊
