The Civitas newsletter and MOTM - July 2025

ree

July is here. Summer at Civitas is here and we have a lot to be excited about this month. Saturday 26th is a big day (and night) for us as we are holding our In house summer throwdown followed by a summer social. The Civitas curry night at the Tandoori. Tickets to the curry night are now available and can be purchased here . We only have a limited number of tickets so if you're planning on coming please don't wait as 1. Spaddy will need to know numbers in advance for the food and 2. You may miss out!

The last curry night was a huge hit. The food and atmosphere was great and for those hardcore enough this time we can hit the town for a few drinks after the curry.

Our throwdown is almost full! We have two spots remaining so if you want them give me a shout and I'll get them sorted for you. If you need a team mate please reach out and we can sort that also. For those worried about what the workouts will be (you shouldn't be) we will start to drip feed them out to you soon to get you excited (nervous).

Outside of fitness a shoutout and huge congratulations to Eve who got married last month! We wish you and your husband a happy and healthy life together 🥰.

Last month we saw Civi's testing their fitness. Hyrox simulations and CrossFit comps at Omni and at Oxhouse (which included a Civitas win for Faye, Laura, Langers and Ant 🥳). A special mention also to Lew who completed an Ironman! That is some achievement and it's great to see the hours/days of training come to fruition.

This month not only will you all be competing at our comp but also coach Ben will be competing at Strength In Depth and we'd like to wish him all the best for the weekend 🔥.

For anybody else competing who we don't know about yet. Good luck from all of us!

As much as we love the summer months, July can notoriously be tough. With the beginning of the dreaded school holidays and vacations it can be a time where people 'fall off the wagon'. Next thing you know September comes around, you're mentally drained, the kids go back to school and people are panicking about trying to get back into shape. Getting into the gym is a habit but skipping the gym can also be a habit and one that you don't want to get into.

The unfortunate truth about fitness is that it takes time to build but it doesn't take a lot of time to lose. I know it's easier said than done but try to stay in a routine to ensure you're staying on the move or getting in to regular classes. You'll thank yourself for it later when you're not playing catch up. We'll do everything we can to keep you in shape around your busy schedules. We even have bodyweight workout packs for those going on holiday who want some simple workouts that can be done anywhere so just give us a shout if you want them.
